Prague has added another gem to its rich cultural and historical offerings. As of April 2, 2024, the newly restored gardener’s house at the Cibulka estate in Prague’s Košíře district has officially opened its doors to both the general public and professionals interested in the restoration of historical architecture.

The gardener’s house, once a neglected and forgotten building, is now a beautifully revitalized space that reflects the original spirit of the 19th-century estate. Its restoration is part of a broader revitalization project led by the Nadace rodiny Vlčkových (Vlček Family Foundation), which aims to bring new life to the entire Cibulka estate.

A Space for Inspiration and Education

The house has been transformed into a multi-functional cultural and educational space. Visitors can now explore exhibitions about the history of the estate, learn about the challenges of restoring heritage buildings, and discover the future vision for Cibulka, which will include a unique children's palliative care center.

In addition to public exhibitions, the space will also host specialized workshops, lectures, and discussions. These will focus on topics such as monument restoration, sustainable architecture, and the role of heritage in modern urban development.

A Step Toward the Future of Cibulka

The opening of the gardener’s house is the first publicly accessible step in the transformation of the larger Cibulka estate. Originally a Baroque estate that later became a Romantic park in the early 19th century, Cibulka has long been one of Prague's hidden treasures. With the foundation’s commitment to revitalization, the estate is gradually being reimagined as a place of peace, care, and community.

According to the foundation, the ultimate goal is to create a center of care for children with life-limiting illnesses, blending cutting-edge palliative care with a serene natural environment.

Visiting the Gardener’s House

The house is open to the public during specific events and guided tours, which can be found on the official project website. Entry is free of charge, and visitors are encouraged to explore not only the house but also the surrounding estate grounds, which are gradually being restored.

Whether you're a tourist seeking off-the-beaten-path history, a local architecture enthusiast, or a professional in heritage restoration, the gardener’s house at Cibulka offers a unique and meaningful experience in the heart of Prague.
