Prague City Tourism has officially launched the 2025 tourist season, welcoming both domestic and international visitors with a wide range of new offerings and improvements. As the warmer months begin, the city is extending the opening hours of major historical towers, preparing new exhibitions, and introducing fresh thematic tours to enhance the visitor experience.

Focus on Quality Tourism

The city continues its strategy of attracting more discerning and affluent travelers, with a focus on cultural experiences and deeper engagement with Prague's heritage. Measures have also been taken to improve the overall tourism experience in the historic center, with initiatives aimed at preventing dishonest practices and enhancing the city’s image for both visitors and locals.

Tourism trends in Prague have shifted in recent years. Visitors now tend to stay longer and spend more, and the proportion of domestic travelers remains strong, making up about 20% of the total. The city has also seen a steady increase in tourists from Asia, thanks in part to the launch of new direct flight connections.

New Openings and Monuments Maintenance

Prague City Tourism expects visitor numbers to remain consistent with last year, when over 1.8 million people visited the city’s monuments. Maintenance and revitalization work is planned for several key sites, including the St. Nicholas Town Belfry and the Powder Tower. These efforts aim to preserve Prague's architectural heritage while making it more accessible and attractive to tourists.

A highlight of this year’s season is the newly revitalized wallpapered room at the St. Nicholas Town Belfry, formerly used as an apartment by an assistant watchman. This unique space, previously closed to the public, offers a rare glimpse into a historic living arrangement not preserved elsewhere in the country.

Inclusive and Thematic Guided Tours

Prague City Tourism is also expanding its guided tour offerings through Pragensia Viva. New tours have been designed for individuals with limited mobility, ensuring broader accessibility to the city’s attractions. Fresh thematic tours include walks through the Jewish Quarter and explorations of Prague's culinary culture.

Seasonal walks will continue throughout the year, with the spring edition focusing on hidden natural treasures such as the blooming almond trees on Petřín Hill. Visitors can also enjoy spiritual and reflective experiences, such as the Easter-time Way of the Cross.

In addition, Prague City Tourism is preparing a series of guided walks and lectures to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the Prague Uprising, contributing to the city’s rich commemorative and educational offerings this season.
